Born a Petite Shop: Mini Haul Review

When I came across Born a Petite Shop on Instagram I was SO excited. Finally, an on-trend and petite clothing retailer that was my style and had affordable prices. I quickly sent out a story poll to see if anyone else had purchased from there before and what their experience was like. I only received one response, and it was from @caitlininspiredtocreate telling me that she was wondering the same thing and was interested in trying out some pieces. We were down to each purchase a couple of items from the store that we thought were super cute and give it a go! Check out our reel on Instagram for visuals of everything we ended up purchasing. Super cute stuff!

Here’s what I purchased

V-Neck Polka Dot Overall Jumpsuit: $34.99 — 100% Polyester

Lemon Pie Tie Dye Bodycon Dress $28.80 — 100% Polyester

Safari Summer Bow Side Dress $36.00 — 100% Polyester

Awning Striped Wide Leg Pants $29.90 — 50% Cotton, 50% Polyester

My Experience

I wouldn’t be able to get on here and write a review without being 100% honest. I think the options are super cute and affordable, but unfortunately it came with a catch. I received (4) items in total. Two of the items fit great (the pants and the bodycon dress) and two of them were really big on me. I checked in with Caitlin and she shared she was having the same problem. Mmm okay so that’s weird because I ordered smalls in everything. So I guess they might order from different manufacturers and the grading is off. A little tricky if you ask me because personally, if I like a store and I know that the small sizes fit me, then I want to be able to purchase knowing those items will fit and I don’t have to go through the process of returning.

The second thing I did notice was the quality of the material of the items. The pants were better than the dresses but the dresses did feel a little cheap and not great on my skin. It’s wearable, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just not the best it could have been in my opinion for the price point.

A positive experience I did have was with their customer service. You have to reach out through email to start the return process. I spoke with Clarisa and she was quick to respond and very helpful. She even gave me a little leeway on their 15 day free US return policy because I had mentioned I was going to be out of town for an extended period of time when the package was expected to be delivered (not all items arrived at the same time due to them being out of stock and being shipped directly from China…). She was lenient and I can always respect and really appreciate awesome customer service!

Drumroll Please…

Overall, I would rate this online petite shop a 5/10. The customer service was great and always appreciated, but the quality, ease of returns and fit could be better. Sadly, not enough for me to buy again but hey, there’s always room for improvement.

Ahhh the search continues!

Caitlin’s Experience

Keep reading because Caitlin and I were in this together, I want to share with you her experience because she ordered completely different items. Be sure to follow her on Instagram and read her blog post on her Born a Petite Shop review!
