For the Love of the Midi Dress

I will say it loud & proud, I’m only 4’11”!!

We sometimes let our body types interfere and dictate the types of styles we wear and don’t wear. For me, I was always self-conscious to wear any dress that went past my knees because I thought it made me look shorter than I already was. In my mind, the more legs the better and I would be perceived as taller. I couldn’t keep up with that line in my head forever because the truth was - midi dresses started trending and I fell in love with them!

The solution to my problem and yours - we will start to feel more comfortable and confident in outfits that we may second guess by simply wearing it more and more. The more I found midi dresses I loved and wanted to wear, the faster I discovered my attraction to this type of dress with a slit since it allows me to show some leg which in turn - makes me feel sexy. I also became more comfortable with throwing flats into the mix instead of a wedge or heel and the more I wore the dress, the more confident I became with embracing my curves in loose and tighter fitting dresses. Listen, if you’ve got curves, flaunt ‘em!

Etiquette Boutique

I also want to highlight where I bought this dress from because it’s a local South Florida GEM of a boutique that I LOVE shopping at. Etiquette Boutique has some of the trendiest summer picks from dresses to jumpsuits, from swim to casual to a night on the town. They have locations in Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton. They’re pricing is reasonable for a boutique in these areas and I’ve always been treated great by their staff.

From a petite standpoint, some of their items are hit or miss for me. Obviously this dress worked out perfectly, but I have tried on pants or jumpsuits that were too long in the leg or too loose in the chest area. Nonetheless, I don’t give up hope on them because when I find something that fits it’s always good quality becomes a staple in my closet.

Happy shopping!
