Give Me the Height, Keep the Pain: The Perfect Everyday Shoe
As a petite, I am always looking for ways to accentuate my height. I remember as a kid saying when I grew up I would wear heels everyday even if there wasn’t a special occasion to celebrate. That definitely isn’t my reality today, but I do enjoy wearing a comfortable wedge or thicker heel when I want to elevate a casual outfit.
I think the obsession with shoes and shoes that give you height stems from when I was younger and always the shortest in the room. Wearing shoes elongated my legs and allowed me to be more on the same eye level as my friends. It also gave me the confidence boost I needed because when I was young, being the shortest in the bunch made me feel like I was the “youngest” in the bunch. I associated that with a negative feeling, the feeling of not being mature looking or sexy to a guy. Looking back on it now it seems so silly, but I don’t regret the shoe obsession that has filled up my closet!
The perfect wedge for me is a shoe that I can wear all day long and don’t feel like I want to take off after only a couple of hours. I need something that I can dress up for a night out or that I can wear with jeans during the day. Give me the versatility!! I literally hateeee when I see people take their shows off at an event like a wedding. Call me crazy but that just grosses me out. The shoes make the outfit and without them, I don’t feel complete. The perfect shoe has height, but doesn’t provide too much of an arch thus causing that pain in the front padding of your foot. If I do like a pump rather than a wedge or a platform sandal, I also always gravitate more towards a thicker heel. I just feel like it gives more support!

PRO TIP: It’s more hurtful for your feet to endure the same type of shoe for an extended period of time. You’re just not allowing your bones and muscles to experience a different type of pressure. So switch it up every once in a while!
